We'd love to hear from you. Just use the following or any of the social media links to get in touch with us.
Snowbolt Interactive is based in the flat and chilly city of Cambridge in the UK, and we like to make games. At present we are a band of five who met while working at Frontier Developments. Between us we have collectively amassed over 40 years of experience and grey hairs in games development. In September 2011 we decided to chance our arm in the shark tank of independent game development and so Snowbolt Interactive was formed. It is still early days for us on this road of independence and we are really enjoying the journey and experiences so far. We have a real passion for both making and playing games and it is our hope that along the way we will make games that other people will enjoy as much as we do.
Many thanks to Frontier for all the opportunities over the years and for being supportive of our new endeavour.
Visionary and Genius; despite his strenuous claims Matt is neither of these things. He started professional life as a programmer in a small team at a long since demised company called Televirtual. While there he worked on various real-time graphics applications that included work used in the Millennium Dome and on Channel 4 television. After four and half years he moved to Frontier Developments as a game team programmer. With varying responsibilities Matt worked on a number of titles at Frontier including Thrillville, Thrillville: Off the Rails and LostWinds. He went on to be lead programmer on the double BAFTA nominated Kinectimals game for Xbox 360. At Snowbolt he has fewer people to boss around now, though this hasn't stopped him trying!
Tim Hughes is a computer games programmer with over ten years of experience in the industry. He joined Frontier Developments as a graduate and worked his way up to Head of Engine Development before leaving last year to start Snowbolt Interactive. Being part of Frontier's engine team afforded Tim the opportunity to work on technology for a long list of projects including Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Thrillville I&II, The Outsider, Kinectimals and Kinect Disneyland Adventures. Tim specialises in (and obsesses about) graphics and performance optimisations for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. At Snowbolt Tim has turned his obsessing towards gameplay subtleties instead!
Matthew's been programming ever since he was tall enough to reach a keyboard and has been a professional games developer for over 11 years. He started work at Creature Labs where he developed a few small arcade games, before moving to Frontier Developments in 2003. At Frontier he was able to build experience in his main area of interest, graphics programming, working on titles like Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Thrillville and Kinectimals (yes, including that fur). The rest of the team are never sure whether Matthew simply enjoys making graphics look good or if he thinks he's paid by shader instruction.
Dean is the lone artist at Snowbolt, and has his work cut out for him. Like many of his ilk, he grew up playing games, and has always enjoyed the more technical side of the creative world, so 'art on computers' was clearly the way to go. He graduated from the NCCA in Bournemouth back in 2003, and then joined a small team at Frontier Developments. There, he rose through the ranks earning a wealth of experience on a wide range of projects including; Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Thrillville, Lostwinds and Kinectimals. Here at Snowbolt, the programmers may have him outnumbered, but he has the 'only artist' trump card up his sleeve, and isn't afraid to use it.
Pete has been working as a programmer in the games industry since 2004. He started his career as a graduate at Frontier Developments working on several teams before settling into his role as a graphics programmer on the engine team. Pete has worked on a number of titles including Wallace and Gromit, COTWR, Thrillville, Outsider and Kinect Disneyland Adventures. At Snowbolt Pete's a real workhorse, relentlessly ploughing through his task list each day. We're not sure yet but we think this may be as a result of his copious consumption of green tea .
